Victorian Terrace, Ladywell

A Victorian terrace receives an exotic twist

When our studio came on board this south London renovation, we re-drew existing plans for a loft conversion, conceiving a more functional bespoke space that housed a bedroom and bathroom, as well as overseeing the creation of a study out of a first-floor bedroom. Inspired by the owner’s antique wall-hung Chinese fan, we designed a scheme based around earthy textures with a hint of the Orient, including sisal wardrobe door panels with an oak trim (and a pop of jewel box orange within), natural woven flooring and bamboo elements. For a tranquil, spa-like feel, the adjoining bathroom, built over the first-floor rear extension, is softly zoned with richly veined marble half-height walls, while terrazzo porcelain flooring and simple monochrome lines add a gently graphic note. We optimised every inch of space – even creating book shelves out of the void between the bedroom and bathroom wall.
